T-Max Korean Band Profile and Members

T-Max (티맥스) is a Korea Boy Band under Two-step Entertainment. It is supposed to be the South Korean version of Japanese group Arashi. Members consist of 3 vocalists and a main rapper, who are Shin Minchul (vocalist), Kim Joon or Kim Hyung Joon (rapper), Hanbi and Chanyang who joined T-Max in 2010. Their former member: Park Yunhwa (vocalist).

The name T-Max suddenly risen up after the sang a soundtrack for Korean hits drama "Boys Over Flowers". One of their member, Kim Hyung Joon also starred in the drama as Song Woo Bin.



T-max released their first full album “Born to the Max” in 2010 as a 4 member group.

They have also released 5 singles, and have contributed to the Boys Over Flowers and God of Study OSTs. Singles include: Blooming (July 2007), Lion Heart (November 2007), Run to You (December 2008), Single Collection (July 2009), Love Parade (September 2009).



They have often been called the “Korean w-inds.” (comparing them to the Japanese pop group w-inds.), due to their trio nature and musical style, which many note, has a certain Japanese flavour.




T-Max Debut

The 3-guy group, made up of Shin Min-chul, Park Yoon-ha and Kim Hyung-joon, was formed based on the idea of maximum, perfect harmony, as its name suggests. Their debut song is a J-pop style dance track about the moment that new love blooms.

T.max debuted in June 2007 with single Blooming. This single release also came with songs "Bang Bang Boom!" and "Cavity". Their debut track "Blooming" is a light and airy mid-tempo dance number that fits right in the summer mood. Even before their debut, T.max attracted attention for having a different look and style than other South Korean boy bands.

Many know T-MAX as the group who filmed themselves dancing to Arashi's "Love So Sweet" and gave it as a gift to their producer.



T-Max name meaning

The name T-Max comes from the first letter of triple and trinity, the words that mean perfect balance and harmony, and “maximize,” which implies that they will maximize their talents and abilities. The trio is composed of Shin Min-cheol, noted for his exception songwriting talent, Kim Jun, who plays Song Woo-bin in a new KBS drama, “Boys Over Flower,” and Park Yun-hwa, a talented musician in his own right. Their latest album contains pieces that best represent the versatility of these three promising musicians, covering a wide range of genres from trendy pop to funky rock dance. Title song “I Love You” from their latest album will also be featured in the teaser video for the film “Pitiable City” due out in early 2009.



T-Max Nowadays

As of now T-Max (티맥스) make a special comeback with new members: Park Hanbi and Joo Chanyang. T-max released their first full album "Born to the Max" in 2010 as a 4 member group. T-Max Individual facts:

Member Kim Joon starred as a member of the F4 in the Korean drama “Boys Over Flowers” (꽃보다 남자). In addition, T-max added to their OST collection in late 2008 by singing the main theme for the drama.

Park Yunhwa was known for participating in “Battle Shinhwa”, a show that centered around popular idol band Shinhwa searching and selecting members to create a new boyband.

Recently, Yunhwa was featured in “Mak Ban Shi” or “Maknae Rebellion” a show designed to bring popular idol group maknaes (ie. youngest member) out in the light. Currently he’s serving in army (year 2010)

Son Dong Won is a vocalist and rapper of Korean Boy Band Beast. Son Dong Won is the youngest member of the group, thought he tallest member.



Son Dong Woon was a trainee from JYP Entertainment and was the last member to join BEAST and is also the maknae (youngest) of the group.

Father of Beast's maknae Dongwoon recently spoke out about about his son becoming an idol as well as Jaebum's incident with netizens that occurred four months ago.

Dongwoon's father, Son Illak, who is a professor of international manners for hotel adminstration at Cheongju University, recently wrote an article in A House Full of Happiness magazine regarding Jaebum's situation and giving his son some advice.



In his article, titled "Tolerance of 2PM's Jaebum", he writes in a letter style giving words of encouragement to his son as well as his own views about Jaebum's incident.

In his letter, he states:

As I further observed this case, I began to become skeptical at the understanding and generosity of this nation. How could we expect a young adult that has barely grown out of his teen years to be of perfect morality and ethics? What kind of nation is Korea if we cannot forgive a mistake he made in his own personal moment of immaturity and hardship? I think I have a general idea of who these people are, the people that so cruelly threw rocks at him instead of helping him up in his time of need. They're probably goody two shoes that have never once made a mistake in their lives. And if, by chance, some of them did make mistakes, then they are truly an unforgivable person.



I believe that the keyword of this generation is tolerance. To accept and respect those with a different opinion from your own and to tolerate an international generation. I hope that the netizens of our nation will learn to tolerate without discrimination and prejudice."

Professor Son ended his letter with words of encourgemnt and some advice for his son:

Son! The career that you have chosen is a lot like living in a glass bowl as a fish. It's a sad life in which you are always being watched and scrutinized. But, this is your dream! Be courteous in your every word and action. And if you ever meet someone that has fallen, never throw rocks at them. I truly hope that Jaebum will return to 2PM and something like this will never happen again. I dream for this nation to mature into a tolerant nation.

Lee Gi Kwang Beast Dancer Profile

Lee Gi Kwang (AJ) is the vocalist and dancer of Korean Boy Band Beast. He is considered as the most popular member of the group. Besides a singer, Lee Gi Kwang also an actor. He starred in Korean Drama High Kick Through The Roof and My Princess.

AJ was trained under JYP Entertainment for four years before transferring to JYPE's sister agency, Cube Entertainment. He made his debut on April 2, 2009 on Mnet M!Countdown. He was dubbed by Korean media as the next Rain.

Lee Gi Kwang Debut 2009

AJ "was" trained under JYP Entertainment for four years before transferring to JYPE's sister agency, Cube Entertainment. He made his debut on April 2, 2009 on Mnet M!Countdown. He was dubbed by Korean media as the next Rain. On June 17, 2009, AJ opened for Lady Gaga's Korean showcase.



AJ released a total of two singles from his debut EP. The first single, "(Dancing Shoes)", former Wonder Girls and now 4Minute member, Hyuna made an appearance in the music video. AJ was later released as the official second single from the EP, called Wipe The Tears. The original version features (now) BEAST member Junhyung, for the promotional version, rapper/singer Doo Joon (now the leader of Beast) was added to the rap with Junhyung.

AJ has now switched from a solo artist to a group member of Beast. He is now known as Gikwang, or Kikwang.The group debuted on October 16, 2009 on KBS Music Bank with their single "Bad Girl". He is one of the main dancers and a lead vocalist in BEAST.

The name "AJ", which is common not only in Korea but also overseas, has created disputes among netizens since many expressed their dissatisfaction over him having the same name as Paran's AJ. Cube Entertainment responded by saying that AJ’s name is different from that of Paran AJ’s for his (Cube's AJ) name is short for ‘Ace Junior’. The company later announced that he would continue activities under a different name, but no changes were made until it was revealed that AJ would no longer continue activities, as he will have been preparing to debut as a member of BEAST.
